Modern Update on Bardo Teachings: Volume 1 — A conversation between Bodhicitta and Prem Doug exploring the Bardo teachings through direct experience.

The Comic Bardo Thodol by Thomas Coville

A Different Approach

The Comic Bardo Thodol

“Because the Bardo Thodol is really dense and complex, and there aren't good Western analogues — we've got Heaven, Hell, Purgatory. The Tibetans have six such places, numerous interstitial states, a variety of angels, demons, deities, and parallel worlds. It's weird and disorienting, and reading it can give you a major headache. So, in the interest of fun and simplicity, here's ‘The Comic Bardo Thodol.’”

— Thomas Coville, creator

Sometimes ancient wisdom arrives in unexpected forms. Thomas Coville's illustrated adaptation makes the labyrinthine Bardo teachings accessible through the universal language of comics.

The Bardo meditation is available as guided audio in seven languages: German, English, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Czech. It can be used as preparation for the dying transition, as a regular meditation practice, or as support during the active dying process.

The Tibetans say that the hearing sense remains intact for some time after death, and it is also the first sense that operates after birth — making the Bardo's spoken guidance particularly powerful at the threshold between worlds.
